Increasingly “ancient history” is not just about the rise of democracy and science, since its now apparent we lived for thousands of years without any powerful and centralized religions or governments.
The fast=twitch instincts and refined hunter-gatherer senses we developed in this long anarchic childhood will now serve us well moving forward. The old tribal past is not dead. Its not even past. Now we have the liberal-democratic cybernetics to supply a Bookchinite post-scarcity society off-the-shelf. Those ways and means exist today primed and ready for open-source AGI day.
Into the wild
Paradoxically, yet predictably, the most advanced technology is leading us inexorably back to those halcyon days of youth when we answered to no boss and paid zero rent to any landlord. Early reports about the Carib and Polynesians told us they lived an idyllic lifestyle. We can recover that! The sooner the better - which is why AGI should be followed up by a rapidly unspooling singularity. I would not be ashamed to find out this whole process has already started. Slow at first. Then quickly.
