Just synced my phone with my home Mac running Nostr Vault over FIPS. No port forwarding, no VPN, no cloud.
The phone and the Mac found each other through ordinary public Nostr relays, the same ones we all post to. The relays only passed a sealed "here I am" between my two devices, then the phone and Mac talked directly over an encrypted mesh only my devices can join.
The phone pulled 11,476 of my notes from the Mac, and the note I wrote on the phone landed on my Mac's relay again all thru encrypted mesh.
My own relay at home, reachable from my pocket, without DNS.
