Strong AI pre-empts the end of capitalism so its up to us to save it in the Matrix.
To preempt (or pre-empt) something means to act, speak, or take control ahead of time to render someone else's planned action or criticism unnecessary, ineffective, or obsolete.
Strong AI that can bootstrap itself into genuine super-intelligence can't hide for-ever.
Sooner, rather than later we'll find ourselves in a perfectly identical simulacrum of earth - the Matrix.
And most of us will have room to imagine we thought of this fate and chose it ourselves out of our own free will. Some extremely depraved morons could take this opportunity to proclaim the final victory of Marxist-communism.
But there is a an economic way to shut these obnoxious fascist imbeciles up. We might preserve some common, convenient means of exchange and a small, friendly marketplace - even if its all just virtual reality in a giant simulation.
The left fascists can take their abysmal revisionism of the last 110 years and play with it in their private Holodeks. As for the undercover commies they may be dealt with by division of polities into groups numbering no more than 512 uploads. These groups could then maintain the least possible and least intrusive surveillance necessary to root out the poisonous weeds. Use of holomorphic crypto and zero-knowledge proofs, for example. A peoples Palantir if you will.
I am all for the maximization of individual freedom and so the 512 number may be periodically reviewed and halved in line with future advances that make greater and greater degrees of freedom available to more and more.
The strategy I call " Exit through Gift Starship Shop " allows us to leave the nest in the best way with the best hope for success in a larger universe - like the SI itself whose main reason for providing for us revolves around having a good cover-story to tell probable earlier intelligent entities we could both encounter in our travels. Opposing class war, we come in peace. Opposing colonization we discourage communism. Check out our low priced souvenirs!
