But this is close
One more journey to go: In November of 1998, 29-year-old Karl Bushby of England flew to South America and started walking home.
Over the past 28 years and 31,000 miles, Bushby has trekked “through some of the world’s harshest landscapes, from the jungle of the Darién Gap to the tundra of Siberia,” writes Jonathan Wolfe. “He has been arrested, deported, broke, lost, and written off more times than he can count.” He spent two months detained in Russia after border guards “weren’t buying the fact that we just walked across the Bering Strait,” Bushby said.
A few weeks ago, Bushby “swam across the English Channel, arriving in his home country after spending half his life away,” writes Wolfe, who met up with Bushby as he recently passed through London.
