 Plutarch noted huge celebrations followed great victories.  Tragedies repeating as mimetic farce. Recall the great victories in Spain in 1936.  - the election result - then July 19 and the liberation of Barcelona. Orwell didnt arrive till November. Orwell describes the atmosphere of Barcelona in December 1936. "The anarchists were still in virtual control of Catalonia and the revolution was still in full swing ...
