A Network Called “Resistance”: An Interview with Autistici/Inventati | anarchistnews.org
Our bank account is still active at the moment, but today is Sunday, August 30, and bank offices in Italy are closed. We sent an official legal warning to the bank not to close the account, and we have a call with the bank and our lawyers on Monday, August 31. We will see whether it has decided to reconsider its decision.
3. Have you seen banks, technology companies, hosting providers or other institutions over-comply by taking actions beyond what the sanctions clearly require?
Yes. Banca Etica’s reported decision to close our account illustrates how de-risking operates. The United States did not need to issue a direct order to the bank, and it has not been established that Italian law requires the relationship to be terminated. The bank can decide that maintaining the relationship creates too much legal, financial or reputational risk because our OFAC entry carries a secondary-sanctions warning.
We believe something similar occurred with our domain
