The technical term for taking thoughts for materialist criteria is phenomenolgy.
But not for much longer. Its set to go the way of theosophy. And communism.
The revisions to materialist philosophy engendered by relativity and quantum mechanics don't impact on Newtonian space. Maybe for not much longer - but at least till mass uploads are sent.
For now consciousness is a purely materialist fact. To assert otherwise drags in metaphysics, and nobody in their right mind ever wants that. Amirite?
