To summarize, neither Trump nor any of the other authoritarian governments that have so far arisen in constitutional bourgeois regimes from Hungary to Argentina represent any sort of qualitative regime change and therefore should not be called Bonapartist.
However, the quantitative changes they do represent indicate the grave danger of the growing potential for qualitative change in the future.
If for example, there is a coup d’etat in Germany by the AFD, or one by Trump in the United States, we could genuinely say that the constitutional regimes had been replaced by Bonapartist regimes. And, at least in the USA, it would be a patrimonial one, too.
