Sodomy itself as a legal term has evolved over the past two millennia of Christian jurisprudence. In some contexts, it refers solely to same-sex behavior while in others it also encompasses anti-social sexual violence towards women and children. At one point in European and US history, the legal definition of sodomy included premarital sex, interracial marriage, and extra-marital, polygamous, or poly-amorous marriage, not to mention sexual violence against women and children of all varieties and kinds.
