But there's a dark side
As I've said before, we keep laughing at LLMs because they can't outperform the top 1% of domain experts a very specific task. But the LLM will handily crush a college professor, surgeon, lawyer or engineer on a range of tasks that straddle domains. And that is really what matters for most of our needs.
