This famous 1853 speech by early Australian republican Daniel Deniehy was in response to an attempt by William Charles Wentworth to establish hereditary Australian peerages—a "bunyip aristocracy". Deniehy's lambasting of William Wentworth and James Macarthur, amongst others, ensured this never came to pass.
