OR . . . the optimism of the futurist tradition, throbbing with desires for a utopian vision of a post-capitalist future that avoids both the veneration of rough trade, hard bondage work and industrial discipline or the spiritualist exaltation of frugal living that has been found in some past social democratic, religious and communist visions.
