Re: Tucker Carlson hosts Nick Fuentes
Nov 1 #39058 The comments on this article so far have indicated several things. First of all, they seem to be influenced by the Zionist smear that support for Palestinian rights equals anti-semitism. But the comments seem to be influenced in the sense that they ignore or dismiss the threat of rising genuine anti-semitism, which is almost always an inherent part of fascism. (As if genuine anti-Semitism weren't bad enough in and of itself!) Being generally isolated from the working class, most on the left are unaware of the powerful anti-Semitic trends that pervade the US working class. We published an article explaining and documenting that some time ago (Anti-Semitism is a growing danger but not in the way you think) There is also a tendency to dismiss the possibility that the left may align itself with with the actual fascist genuine anti-Semitic opponents of US support for Israel. Those who dismiss such a possibility are deluding themselves, or worse. There is a long, long history of such an alignment in the United States as this article "Fascist ideas on the left" explains. But we don't have to look back that long ago. What is the red-brown alliance which apologizes for imperialist Russia's invasion of Ukraine all about? Remember the "Rage against the war machine" protest? The most stunning example was last year's presidential election. One can make an argument against voting for the Democrats. Fine. But what almost the entire socialist left did was devote themselves to attacking the Democrats with hardly a word of warning about the dangers of Trump, Project 2025, and MAGA. Hardly a word! There can be no other description of this but one and one only: That they effect supported Trump. Yes, the majority of the socialist left aligned itself with Trump. Nor have they learned a thing since then. Yes, the socialist (and non-socialist) left attacks Trump for his anti-immigrant stance, but they are more or less silent about Trump's unprecedented gathering of personal power, his attacks on almost every bourgeois institution (universities, the bourgeois press, major law firms, his attacks on bourgeois opponents, etc.), etc. The underlying attitude is "who cares since they're all capitalists?" This represents a failure to distinguish between bourgeois democracy and far right dictatorship. (Incidentally, we saw a similar alignment over the murder of Charlie Kirk. Fascist anti-Semites such as Nick Fuentes and Candace Owens claimed that that murder was due to a Zionist conspiracy, and some on the left echoed that claim.) There is a crisis in the working class and that crisis is reflected - concentrated, in fact - in the political collapse of the left, avowedly socialist and otherwise. Those who dismiss the potential of that left to make future blunders and even outright betrayals are at best opening the door to future blunders and betrayals. That includes the potential for the left supporters of Palestinian rights to align themselves with the anti-Semitic far right, and even outright fascist anti-Semites, over the issue of Israel. |
