The most honest defense of this amid a sea of denial is a vivid description of Hal Drapers that EVERYONE HATED JEWS in those days.
BTW - antisemitism disguises the hateful religious bigotry. Jews are not a race and races are not even real.
Using antisemitism obfusactes rather than reveals. And no one has to be religious to leverage popular religious prejudice either. Even if Marxism-Communism amply qualifies as a religioun by most metrics.
