Military grade inscriptions

The weapon was an imported .30-06 Caliber Mauser bolt-action rifle, which is known as a powerful long-range sniper-style gun. Investigators found the gun wrapped in a towel in a wooded area, not far from where Kirk was shot, as per the New York Post report.

Charlie Kirk was shot once while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. According to the NY Post, the Justice Department is now investigating the descriptions given in the ATF memo to see if they match the actual evidence. The ATF has not confirmed if the descriptions in the memo are exactly the same as the gun that was recovered.

In 1906, the .30-06 cartridge was officially designed for very long shots up to 1,000 yards. The first version, called M1906, had a 150-grain flat-base bullet with a cupronickel jacket.
