We shall fight the local realists

"Einstein on the Beach" is a groundbreaking opera created by composer Philip Glass and director Robert Wilson, first performed in 1976. It is known for its unconventional structure, consisting of four acts without a traditional narrative, and it radically altered the way opera is made and received by challenging conventional score, plot, and staging. The piece is not a biographical depiction of Albert Einstein, nor does it feature a beach setting, but rather explores themes of time and space through its innovative music and visual elements. It remains one of the most iconic stage pieces of the 20th century and is considered a pivotal work in Glass's oeuvre.
