Spaniard in the works

There’s a character who is an anarchist, and anarchism becomes a thread through the whole book. I think a lot of people have a misconception of anarchism. There’s this idea that, “Oh, it’s just like, no rules and rock on, man, blow everything up.”

There was a huge tradition of anarchy. It’s a political movement that aims to destroy hierarchy in terms of the state, but replace it with laterally organized communities that operate with direct democracy. Everyone in these communities has an equal say in how they’re run and equal say in advocating for what they need.
