Quarks as zeros and ones

    • Building Blocks of Hadrons:
Quarks combine to form composite particles called hadrons. Protons and neutrons, the building blocks of atomic nuclei, are examples of hadrons.
    • Six Flavors:
The six flavors of quarks are categorized as up, down, charm, strange, top, and bottom. These flavors are distinguished by their mass and charge.
    • Antiquarks:
For each quark, there exists a corresponding antiquark, which has the opposite charge and other quantum properties
  • Never Isolated:
Quarks are never observed in isolation; they always appear in pairs or triplets to form hadrons.
  • The Strong Force:
Quarks are held together by the strong nuclear force, which is one of the four fundamental forces of nature. This force is described by Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD).
  • Protons and Neutrons:
Protons consist of two up quarks and one down quark, while neutrons consist of one up quark and two down quarks
