Correlations not causation but an activist in the UK noted German riot police tags and that fell into dead air at Indymedia.  A little while later I proffered a brief article on Btc to Anews.  That was almost a year before it went from under 1k to over 20k. 

So inattention costs. So?

Its long been the case species become extinct.  Any tradition looking up to the likes of Ted Zerzan,  Saul Newman and Aragorn while net activism and cryptoanarchism exploded can hardly disappear soon enough. 

 Fewer anarchists.  But better ones.
