Rise of science

Thales of Miletus is often regarded as the first philosopher in Western history. His inquiries into the fundamental principles of the universe, particularly the concept of 'arché'—the fundamental principle underlying all things—led to a new understanding of the cosmos. Thales challenged the mythological explanations of the cosmos that dominated his time and introduced a more empirical approach to understanding nature. His work laid the groundwork for future generations of thinkers and the development of rational thought and scientific inquiry in ancient Greece and beyond. Thales's contributions to philosophy, science, and mathematics have had a lasting impact on the fields of study and continue to be studied and appreciated today.
