Suspended from the party by Starmer on the utterly bogus accusations (slanders) of being soft on antisemitism (i.e. defending the rights of Palestinians), he was never allowed back. He proved his mettle by standing as an independent and retaining his seat in parliament, one of the few bright moments of the last general election: a firework in the rain.
